Off season workouts at Rock Steady Boxing

Postby Red Zeppelin on Mon Aug 10, 2015 3:57 pm

Last year we formed the Indy Boxing Club within Rock Steady to offer boxing classes for the general public. 50% of all proceeds come back to our Parkinson's program. Our classes are Tues/Thurs from 7pm-8:15pm. Learn how to box for real and continue to HIT STUFF during the off season!

Boxing is excellent conditioning in many ways, building speed, power, hand-eye coordination, agility, strength, core-strength, balance and focus in a high-intensity but SUPER FUN class. We have a blast in these classes and listen to raunchy music ;) Sparring is optional every other Saturday.

HERE'S A GROUPON FOR 2 MONTHS OF CLASSES @ 54% OFF!

Hope some of you will consider it - AWESOME TEAM BUILDING!

Are there typically men at these, or mostly women? I am debating if my husband would like this

Co-ed - I'd say half-n-half men/women. Ages college to people in their late 50's. Beginners to amateur fighters. Two coaches, Luke, who trains Golden Glove boxers and has trained along my coach for the last 10 years - and Brent, who is an actual fighter. Super cool dudes.

Our classes are fun, we're all a little goofy :) set up on circuit based training. So you'll learn the basics of boxing, focus mitts, speedbags, double-end bags, jump rope, heavy bags, defense, etc. plus strength training, core work, agility, etc. It's different each time. It's way more interactive than a Title Boxing class or 9 Rounds, while those classes are still a great workout, they just kind of stick you on a heavy bag with little instruction. We do a lot more "old school" boxing type training.

Thanks, Red! I'm giving it some serious thought.

Yay, my husband bought a groupon. He's been really lackluster about working out. So hopefully he enjoys it. I didn't buy one cuz we have practice tues/thurs. Does he need to buy gloves? I am assuming so, right?

RSB sells gloves for $30 (cheaper than Dicks) and wraps for $7 ... he can use our "community stinky gear" for free ... but most people end up buying their own stuff because it's more sanitary that way.
