Fishers, Ind. – The Circle City Derby Girls’ Socialites maintained momentum from their March victory on the road with a decisive 252-133 win over the Peoria Push Demolition Dames in a fast-paced home opener on April 20 at The Forum in Fishers. The Socialites’ tenacious positional blocking and strong walls prevented Peoria jammers from scoring in half of the jams, and rarely allowed them to score more than 5 points per jam when they did.

CCDG jammer Wicked Baum-Chele drew first blood with 15 points on the board while Peoria’s jammer, Tased E. Bacon, got pummeled by Ionic Bondage in the pack. Bacon obviously felt the heat, as she attempted to call off the jam despite not being lead. Circle City maintained a lead until the twelfth jam of the bout, when Peoria’s jammer Little Miss Sunshiner scored 10 points to put the Dames at 43 points to Circle City’s 39.

The Dames' lead didn't last long, however, as Circle City jammers Vivi Section and Liberty Spykes put 35 points on the board in back-to-back jams near the end of the first period, while Peoria was held to zero. In the 16th jam, Vivi Section quickly grabbed lead jammer status, while Socialites’ blockers Devil Woman, Nova Blaze, and Spleana Rupture built fort-like walls to contain Peoria’s jammer. After the Dames’ jammer went to the penalty box, Vivi Section added 20 points to bring Circle City within 1 point of the Push (65-66). In jam 17, Liberty Spykes also made the most of the ongoing power jam situation by persevering over poundings from Peoria’s blockers to score 15 points. Effective walls and positional blocking by Socialites Lady Miss Bier, Nova Blaze, Shock Hop and Spleana Rupture held Peoria’s jammer back after she returned from the box. All of this brought Circle City back on top at 80-66. Two more high-scoring jams – including a 25-point jam by Vivi Section – and a sprinkling of points in additional jams brought the score to a healthy 123-69 halftime lead.

Green jammer Cassie Khaos opened the second period with a 20-point jam to take the score to 143-69, thanks to some help from Ionic Bondage, who opened up a Peoria wall for Cassie. Circle City’s jammers took lead jammer status for the next seven jams, and they added 43 points to the board. Socialites blockers Beattie Sedgwick, Devil Woman, Nova Blaze and Spleana Rupture held Peoria jammers to 1 point during those eight jams. After one 9-point jam by the Demolition Dames, Circle City went back at it and scored 29 points in the next four jams, bringing the score to 215-82. A handful of low-scoring jams by both teams and a 14-point jam by the Socialites’ Liberty Spykes brought the final score to 252-133.

This doubleheader, which was opened by a match-up between Circle City Derby Girls’ Party Crashers and Peoria Push’s Wrecking Crew, was the first home bout for Circle City’s fifth season. This gives them a 2-0 record after their previous win against Southern Illinois Roller Girls in March. Their next home bout takes place in their home venue at The Forum in Fishers on Saturday, May 4, when Circle City’s Socialites take on Vette City Roller Derby from Bowling Green, Ky., and the Party Crashers play Terrorz of Tiny Towns from Columbus, Ind.
