Fishers, Ind. – The Circle City Derby Girls’ Party Crashers made their 2013 season-opener a memorable night by crushing their opponents, Peoria Push’s Wrecking Crew, 371-33. The last time the two teams met up was in August of 2012, when the Wrecking Crew beat the Party Crashers by a narrow 24-point margin. Circle City’s team used speed, strength, and strategy, however, to overpower Peoria in this most recent matchup on April 20 at The Forum in Fishers, Indiana.

Skaters from the Party Crashers’ lineup aggressively took lead jammer status in almost every jam of the night, and CCDG’s Wrecker Becker, Richie Whip, and Trudy Bauchery even delivered heavy hits while jamming to send Peoria blockers out of bounds. Party Crasher jammer Robin Sock’em – who scored almost 80 points that night – showed off her speed and strong hits by lapping Peoria’s jammers, and initiating some jammer-on-jammer action to send a purple jammer out of bounds. Trudy Bauchery, another Circle City skater who was in their regular jammer rotation, also pounded on her opposing jammer to send her sliding off the track and into the ref lane. Trudy’s agile skating and quick reactions to Peoria’s blockers helped her score over 150 points for the Party Crashers. Circle City’s Wrecker Becker was in heavy jamming rotation in the first half; she scored over 60 points for the ladies in green before switching to blocker for most of the second half.

Wrecker Becker wasn’t the only skater from the Party Crashers to show off her versatility on the track. Blocker Guiyatine Gretyl, who is typically known for her powerful hits that send skaters flying from the track (several of which she executed against Peoria skaters), took her turn at jamming for Circle City and racked up 18 points as lead jammer for the green team. Rookie blocker Albee Chooup also showed off her jamming abilities by snagging lead jammer status and putting 15 points on the scoreboard for Circle City.

Circle City’s blockers made it a rough night for Peoria’s skaters, and only allowed them to score a measly 10 points to CCDG’s 173 by the end of the first half. Party Crasher Tiny Ann Mighty proved once again that size does not matter when it comes to bringing a beating, and her sneaky hits sent Peoria jammers and blockers to the floor multiple times. Guiyatine Gretyl demonstrated that she uses more than strength to prevent opponents from scoring, and showed off her grace and finesse in positional blocking to hold back Peoria jammers. The crowd also cheered on while watching rookie TeKillYa SlamHer’s powerful hits that caused many a Peoria skater to hit the concrete.

This victory gives the Party Crashers a 1-0 record to start their season. Their next bout takes place on Saturday, May 4, when Circle City’s Socialites take on Vette City Roller Derby from Bowling Green, Ky., and the Party Crashers play Terrorz of Tiny Towns from Columbus, Ind.
